In November 2016, Emirates Gas joined the membership of WLPGA Industry Council to enter the bid for the event.
In October 2017, WLPGA announced Dubai with the support of 14 other government entities that worked together on the winning bid; positioning the UAE’s as a global pioneer in the energy sector. The bid was supported by Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Ministry of Energy, Dubai Civil Defense, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority, Roads & Transport Authority, Dubai Police and Dubai Airports, as well as local and regional oil and gas major companies.
